We Know Why… American Airlines’ Integrated Approach to Diversity & Inclusion
Approved for 1 HRCI Strategic CREDIT
Against a backdrop of the past 10 very tumultuous years, American Airlines has unfalteringly continued its commitment to diversity and inclusion. As HR professionals, living through incredibly difficult economic times, we’re often faced with really tough questions like, “How can we afford to focus on diversity in these economic conditions?” To that, AA submits the answer is easy. “We can’t afford not to!”
In this forum, we will take a peak inside American Airlines and their diversity journey. The session will include a brief overview of diversity at AA, who they are past and present, followed by a focus on American’s commitment to an integrated diversity strategy. We’ll spend time looking at the components of the strategy and how that strategy continues to evolve. Additionally, American’s rich history with Employee Resource Groups, the Diversity Advisory Council and the critical role they play in creating and living a sustained culture of diversity and inclusion will be highlighted.
Our session will culminate with a look at the support systems that are set in place at AA, a trendsetting innovation in diversity and a continued focus on achieving best practices in diversity and inclusion for the long-term success of the business.
